Seun Kuti Teams Up with Kamasi Washington on Revolutionary New Single “Move (Keep Moving Version)” + Full 2025 Tour Dates

Afrobeat torchbearer Seun Kuti has just dropped a new sonic powerhouse—“Move (Keep Moving Version)”, a bold and blazing collaboration with modern jazz visionary Kamasi Washington. Released today via Record Kicks, the single is available now across all digital platforms and offers a potent preview of the deluxe edition of Kuti’s acclaimed 2023 album Heavier Yet (Lays The Crownless Head), dropping May 28.

This new version of “Move” sees Kuti’s commanding voice and Afrobeat rhythms merged with Washington’s spiritual jazz firepower, creating an anthemic and revolutionary groove that pulses with urgency and purpose. As the son of legendary Fela Kuti, Seun carries a rich legacy of resistance and rhythm. With Kamasi—whose work has elevated the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, and the Michelle Obama documentary Becoming—the track becomes more than a collaboration; it’s a trans-genre call to action.

The deluxe edition of Heavier Yet will feature a host of new contributions, including appearances from De La Soul’s Pos, Adi Oasis, and more, continuing Kuti’s tradition of musical kinship with socially conscious innovators. The original album, produced by Lenny Kravitz, was praised as “his greatest and most powerful yet,” and this reissue promises to take things even further.

Following a high-energy set at Coachella, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 are deep into their U.S. headlining tour, which includes a major appearance at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and multiple dates across the East and West Coasts. Don’t miss your chance to catch this iconic band live—where the full power of Afrobeat erupts onstage with fiery brass, pulsating drums, and Kuti’s unrelenting energy.
