International Jazz Day 2025

International Jazz Day 2025 will be celebrated in over 190 countries on April 30, spotlighting the unifying power of jazz music across cultures and continents. This year, Abu Dhabi, a UNESCO Creative City of Music, has been selected as the official Global Host City, marking a historic moment for the region and the international jazz community.

Organized by UNESCO and the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, the 2025 edition will feature a wide range of concerts, cultural events, educational programs, and community outreach initiatives—culminating in the globally broadcast All-Star Global Concert at Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi’s premier indoor venue.

🎷 A Musical Celebration of Unity and Culture

According to UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, the selection of Abu Dhabi highlights the city’s rich artistic legacy and commitment to cultural dialogue.

“This edition will highlight the city’s rich tapestry of creativity and cultural heritage while showcasing jazz’s ability to connect communities and promote dialogue and peace across continents,” she said.

Jazz legend Herbie Hancock, who also serves as UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Intercultural Dialogue, emphasized jazz’s enduring role as a cultural connector:

“Jazz has always been about bringing people together, breaking barriers, and inspiring creativity across cultures. International Jazz Day reminds us that music has the power to transcend borders, foster dialogue, and spark joy and hope.”

🌍 Global Events, Local Impact

International Jazz Day has grown into a worldwide movement, reaching over 2 billion people annually through live performances, masterclasses, media coverage, and educational outreach. From major cities to small towns, jazz enthusiasts, educators, and musicians come together each year to celebrate the genre’s deep roots and global influence.

In Abu Dhabi, celebrations will include a five-week citywide series of events, from community concerts to school workshops, making jazz accessible to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
