Paul Taylor to Release New Album "It's A Brand New Day" on February 28, 2025

On February 28, 2025, saxophonist Paul Taylor will release his highly anticipated new album It's A Brand New Day via Shanachie Entertainment. The album marks Taylor’s thirteenth studio release as a leader, a milestone he embraces with both excitement and a sense of new beginnings. The number thirteen, often regarded as both unlucky and auspicious, symbolizes the start of a fresh cycle for Taylor. He reflects, “This album in some ways signifies a new cycle for me, as this is my first new recording in three years. The title speaks to my desire to give my fans an optimistic outlook as we approach every brand new day.”

Paul Taylor has enjoyed a remarkable career, earning numerous Billboard #1 hits and collaborating with an array of celebrated artists across multiple genres. His musical partnerships have included Regina Belle, Maxi Priest, Peabo Bryson, Keiko Matsui, The Rippingtons, Peter White, Euge Groove, Michael Lington, Jamie Jones, and Marion Meadows. Taylor's smooth saxophone and undeniable artistry have made him one of the top contemporary jazz saxophonists of his generation.

Taylor’s passion for music began early, when his parents enrolled him in a youth band in his hometown of Denver. It was his band director who, somewhat clairvoyantly, chose the saxophone for him, a decision that would shape Taylor’s destiny. “In the '70s, my first influences were Grover Washington Jr., Earth, Wind & Fire, Patrice Rushen, and Quincy Jones,” Taylor recalls. “Later it was the Brecker Brothers and David Sanborn, but from the very beginning, I wanted to be like Grover Washington Jr. I wanted to record my own music, tour, and be a star in the industry.”

Taylor’s career trajectory has certainly fulfilled that childhood dream. He is now widely regarded as one of the most accomplished and beloved saxophonists in contemporary jazz. “I simply love creating and making my own music. I am the happiest when I am doing just this. It never gets old,” Taylor shares.

Danny Weiss, Vice President of Jazz A&R at Shanachie, praises Taylor’s artistry: “I’ve been an admirer of Paul’s brilliant work dating back to his very first recordings. His superb tone and phrasing are second to none. Paul Taylor is a true icon whose status is well deserved.”

As It’s A Brand New Day prepares to make its debut, Taylor reflects on his long-lasting career with gratitude: “I am grateful for my fans, and I’m blessed to be playing music for as long as I have. It’s incredible to have a career where I get to work on my craft every day.”

Paul Taylor is a renowned contemporary jazz saxophonist whose career spans more than three decades. A native of Denver, Taylor’s early influences were rooted in the sounds of Grover Washington Jr. and the iconic bands of the '70s. Throughout his career, Taylor has released multiple albums, many of which have topped the Billboard charts. His collaborations have crossed genres, working with artists such as Regina Belle, Peabo Bryson, and The Rippingtons. Known for his rich tone, smooth phrasing, and emotional depth, Taylor continues to inspire fans around the world with his music and dedication to his craft.
