Elton John and Brandi Carlile are teaming up for their highly anticipated album Who Believes In Angels?, set to be released in 2025. The album marks an exciting collaboration with producer Andrew Watt, who previously worked with Elton on the Oscar-nominated song “Never Too Late.” Now available for preorder, Who Believes In Angels? offers a first taste with the title track, which is already out, along with a "making of" video showcasing the creative process behind the album.
A unique offering, the album was recorded in just 20 days starting in October 2023, featuring a mix of powerful duets and individual performances from both Elton and Brandi. It also features lyrics co-written by Brandi and Bernie Taupin, Elton’s longtime collaborator. Backing them up on the album are some of the music world’s finest, including Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, and Josh Klinghoffer on guitar.
Elton, reflecting on the creation of the album, shared, "This record was one of the toughest I’ve ever made, but it was also one of the greatest musical experiences of my life. It has given me a place where I know I can move forward. Who Believes In Angels? feels like going into another era and I’m pushing the door open to come into the future." He went on to say, "I have everything I’ve done behind me and it’s been brilliant, amazing. But this is the new start for me. As far as I’m concerned, this is the start of my career Mark two."
Brandi echoed the sentiment, adding, "The world is a wild place to live in right now. It’s hard to find peace and triumph. It’s a radical act to seek out joyful and euphoric happenings. And that is what this album represents to me."
