When artists from distinctly different musical backgrounds come together with an open mind, the results can be truly remarkable. That spirit defines This Is Living, the forthcoming collaborative album from guitarist Harry Bartlett and electronic music producer Kurtis Perrie, arriving August 21 on Adhyâropa Records.
The project was born during an intensive two-week creative session in Etobicoke, Ontario, where Bartlett and Perrie immersed themselves in each other's musical worlds. Despite beginning the collaboration with only a limited understanding of one another's artistic traditions, they discovered common ground through experimentation and curiosity. The result is an album that feels greater than the sum of its parts.
This Is Living is a hypnotic blend of electro-acoustic textures that seamlessly bridges ambient electronics, jazz, bluegrass, and contemporary instrumental music. Ethereal melodies drift over subtle rhythms while acoustic and electronic elements intertwine to create an atmosphere that is both nostalgic and captivating. The music unfolds like a conversation, with each artist contributing a unique voice while allowing space for the other to shine.
Toronto-based Kurtis Perrie has earned recognition as an innovative electronic music producer and instrument designer, receiving support from Four Tet and securing sync placements with Apple and the NFL. Harry Bartlett, an award-winning Nashville guitarist and composer, has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Viktor Krauss and John Mailander. Together, they are joined on the album by vibraphonist Bjorn Kriel and percussionist Jason Martin, adding additional color and depth to the recordings.
