Many of you may have missed a couple of albums that teamed
both Steve Cropper and Felix Cavaliere a couple of years back. They’re really good albums that you should
give a listen to.
Steve Cropper's
guitar, production and songwriting embodied the sound and the spirit of STAX
and the Southern Soul of the '60s. As such, Cropper is best known as the
guitarist for legendary band Booker T. and the MGs and is one of the primary
architects of the unmistakable Stax Records sound of the 1960s. However, his
musical career doesn't stop there as he backed artists and sometimes produced albums by Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Carla, Rufus Thomas and Johnnie Taylor and
later gained fame as a member of The Blues Brothers band.
Felix Cavaliere is
known for as a music producer and musician most well-known for his time with
The Young Rascals (or The Rascals) in the 1960s. The sound of The Rascals was epitomized by
the brilliant songs, B-3 organ and voice of Felix Cavaliere. Cavaliere also had
a solo album in the 1980's with the track 'Only a Lonely Heart Sees' peaking
the the Top 40 Billboard chart. In 2009, Cavaliere was inducted into the
Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
In 2009, these two R&B legends came together to Nudge It
Up a Notch, a tour de force of 12 smokin' original tunes, guaranteed to satisfy
your soul. Tracklisting: One Of Those Days; If It Wasn't For Loving You;
Without You; Full Moon Tonight; To Make It Right; Impossible; Still Be Loving
You; Cuttin' It Close; Make The Time Go Faster; Jamaica Delight; Imperfect

released in 2009.
A year later (in 2010) Cropper and Cavaliere reconvened for
their second collaborative recording. Sparks fly at the crossroads of Memphis
soul and East Coast R&B when Stax Records releases Midnight Flyer. Tracklisting:
