Brian Culbertson’s Spectacular Concert Production
As one of the few jazz artists who can consistently deliver extravagant, visually spectacular, and thrilling concert experiences, Brian Culbertson has created an unforgettable show with The Trilogy Tour: Live from Detroit. Known for his musical versatility, songwriting prowess, and role as a producer, Culbertson has released 40 Billboard No. 1 hits over his storied career. His latest project, The Trilogy, came to life over two years with input from fans who joined him in his weekly online series, The Hang. This collaboration resulted in 30 new songs across three albums, each with a distinct emotional theme: Red, Blue, and White.
The The Trilogy Tour, a 70-show U.S. trek, culminated in a final performance at Detroit’s MotorCity Casino in March 2024. This concert, which forms the centerpiece of The Trilogy Tour: Live from Detroit, features a 17-song setlist showcasing songs from all three albums, along with Culbertson's signature hits. The concert is a visual masterpiece, blending state-of-the-art lighting and effects with masterful choreography to create a truly sensory journey.
A High-Energy Show with Immersive Visuals and Powerful Music
Filmed by renowned director Robert Hubbard, The Trilogy Tour: Live from Detroit is more than just a concert film. It’s a sensory experience, with vibrant melodies, lush harmonies, funky grooves, and extended solos bringing the audience into the heart of the performance. The band—comprised of Culbertson on keyboards and trombone, along with Darnell “Showcase” Taylor (guitar), Eddie Miller (keyboards/vocals), Chris Miskel (drums), Rishon Odel (bass), Michael “Patches” Stewart (trumpet/flugelhorn), Ronnie Gutierrez (percussion), and Walter English III (keyboards/vocals)—delivers an electrifying show that keeps the energy high throughout.
“I knew this tour would be something special, and the music pushed it into another space,” says Culbertson. “It’s more than just a ‘hits’ show—it has a narrative arc and a story that’s told through music and visuals.”
The The Trilogy Tour premiered in March 2023 in Providence, Rhode Island, and ended in Detroit a year later. Culbertson used every performance leading up to the final show to fine-tune the production, ensuring the last concert would be the most polished and thrilling of all.
