According to radio station CFMI in Vancouver, BC, The Police have rented Lions Gate Studios for a rehearsal space in anticipation of a summer tour. It would be the band's first excursion in more than 20 years, and the details will be announced in February. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Roxanne, and a number of product-oriented offerings are in the works, including a boxed set and several DVDs. In addition, there has been an official announcement that The Police will perform during the opening segment of the 49th Annual Grammy Awards program.
Sting, in the meantime, has already committed to perform the following concerts in advance of a Police tour: February 18 at Salle Pleyel in Paris France, February 19 at Stadt-Casino Grosser Musiksaal in Basel Switzerland, February 22 at Teatre del Maggio in Florence Italy, February 23 at Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan Italy, February 25 at Herkulessaal in Munich Germany, February 27 at Jahrhunderthalle Hoechst in Frankfurt Germany, February 28 at Musikhalle Saal 1 in Hamburg Germany, March 1 at Concertgebouw in Amsterdam Netherlands, March 3 at Queen Elizabeth Hall in Antwerp Belgium, March 5 at Philharmonie in Berlin Germany, March 7 at Tonhalle in Dusseldorf Germany, March 8 at Festpielhalle in Baden-Baden Germany, March 10 at Konzerthaus in Vienna Austria, and March 12 at Beethovensaal in Stuttgart Germany.
