MATTHEW CONNOR - SMOKE SIGNALS

Haunting and hypnotic, modern-day chamber-pop artist Matthew Connor is giving crooning a dark, mysterious and eclectic edge. A sound built on thoughtful music theory and powered by Connor's emotive lyrics and booming baritone,  Connor is an evocative blend of today’s Portishead and Daughn Gibson with yesterday’s legends like Elvis and Sinatra. He is currently preparing to release his first full-length album, Farewell Motel, in October 2014. There are those who choose to play music, and then there are masterminds like modern day chamber-pop artist Matthew Connor, who are born for it. Composing before he could even write his name, Connor’s lifelong dedication to achieving excellence in writing and producing has transformed him into a gutsy, bold and original solo artist. Connor is currently preparing to release his first full-length album, Farewell Motel, in October 2014. A darker, modern twist of the old-fashioned crooner aesthetic, the new album is a forte of lush instrumentation, surprising beats and of course, Connor’s stage-stealing vocals. The first single, "How Is July Already Over?" will debut this summer and will be accompanied by an eerily beautiful, stop-motion music video shot by New York-based photographer Marc McAndrews. The harmonious marriage between classical music’s intricate details and contemporary music’s edge, Farewell Motel, in all, is the brilliance, that is Matthew Connor. Smoke Signals includes remixes from Andre Obin, Troels Abrahamsen, and more.
