SIX DEGREES OF: BRAZIL VOLUME 2

In celebration of the upcoming World Cup Fever in 2014, all eyes will be on Brazil.  Once again, Six Degrees Records will be focusing all ears on the amazingly deep and diverse musical legacy of that part of the world. JIM BAKER / FRED LONBERG HOLM / STALE SOLBERG – PARTY KNULLERS MEETS JIM BAKER: FOUR IMAGES OF WANK

Jim Baker plays some pretty great analog synth here – which is mixed with both electronics and cello from Fred Lonberg-Holm – with similar acoustic-sounding elements that really link the players' performances together nicely! The music is improvised with a rich sense of texture and tone – one that's subtle and never hits you over the head with the possible variations of the instrumentation – and as usual, drummer Stale Liavik Solberg proves himself to be a careful participant in such a setting. Titles include "Muhldorfl", "Wallgau", "Krun", and "Schlattan Hofle". ~ Dusty Groove

BUDDY RICH - THE SOLOS

An unusual album for sure, but one that should hold special interest for Buddy Rich fanatics, the 2014 compilation The Solos, features live recordings made of Rich during various concert dates in the 1970s. Rather than include complete tracks, however, The Solos showcases only Rich's solo improvisations.
