Jazz trumpeter Mark Isham has earned him Grammy, Emmy and Clio awards, plus to multiple Academy Award nominations, for his musical accomplishments. In addition to receiving critical acclaim for his jazz albums, Isham is known for his groundbreaking electronic music. He is one of the most celebrated Hollywood film composers today, with credits for over 50 movies and several television scores, and has collaborated with musicians Mick Jagger, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Bruce Springsteen, Sting and more. Isham will take the stage with his band Houston Street on Sunday, February 28, 2010. The show will be at the Catalina Bar & Grill in Hollywood located at 6725 West Sunset Boulevard from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M. As a special bonus for coming, attendees will receive a free MP3 of a Mark Isham and Houston Street Band song performed at the show the very next day. The evening’s show will be recorded and Isham will be mixing the performance himself afterwards.
Houston Street is Mark Isham’s latest musical endeavor. The group explores a wide variety of music, including musical influences ranging from Radiohead and Ornette Coleman to Lennon and McCartney, by tearing it down to its basics and building it back up again through collective improvisation. Isham’s mesmerizing jazz trumpet will be accompanied by Jeff Babko on keys, Doug Lunn on bass, and Tom Brechtlein on drums.
