GILBERTO GIL - BANDA LARGA CORDEL

Brazilian Grammy-winner Gilberto Gil has just announced a series of U.S tour dates for the upcoming summer. He’s set for a dozen shows with his Broadband Band. The tour is set to launch June 18 in Ann Arbor, MI, and visit theaters and festivals across the US and into Canada through early July. In addition, Warner Brothers Records has announced the release of a brand new Gilberto Gil CD entitle "Banda Larga Cordel" (Broadband Pamphlet). "Banda Larga Cordel" will be released on May 14. Gil’s previous studio album, "Gil Luminoso," became available in the U.S, just this past year in March 2007.

Gilberto Gil (along with Caetano Veloso) are credited with pioneering the Tropicalia (protest) movement of the late 1960’s, at which time bith Gil and Velosa spent time in jail, and then eventually were exiled in England for a time.
