RYODISC TO CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY - OFFERS FREE DOWNLOADS!

Rykodisc, the first label to embrace and usher in the compact disc era, proudly celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2008. As a way of saying thanks for supporting our music, Rykodisc is offering 5 free downloads, commemorating our first 25 years, every month of 2008 at www.rykodisc.com. Subsequent downloads will be posted on the 25th of every month during 2008.

The first 5 downloads highlight our rich history with world music. Artists to be featured include Nigeria's juju master King Sunny Ade, world renowned guitarists Ali Farka Toure & Ry Cooder, the sophisticated instrumental sounds of Toumani Diabate, Baka Beyond from the rainforest of Cameroon, and Taj Mahal & Toumani Diabate.

Rykodisc is a recognized leader within the independent music arena. Originally founded as the first CD-only label, Rykodisc is home to a collection of visionary artists including Frank Zappa, Bill Hicks, Morphine, Joe Jackson, Gary Louris, Brian Eno and Elf Power. The label's continued mission is to cultivate an environment that is artist-driven, progressive and forward-thinking as we approach the next 25 years in an ever-changing musical landscape.

John Esposito, President and CEO of WEA Corp., Warner Music Group's US retail sales and marketing company, said, "From the first time I picked up one of those green jewel cases back in the day, I knew Rykodisc was a music company with a distinct point of view. Every album I have enjoyed since has been special and unique. Today, Rykodisc remains a safe haven for creativity, integrity and inspiration."

Rykodisc and its sister company, Ryko Distribution, are headquartered in New York City and are subsidiaries of Warner Music Group. In 2007, Rykodisc merged Cordless Recordings into its operations. Cordless Recordings focuses on developing and exposing new talent through the digital media space. The label was founded by legendary industry veteran, Jac Holzman, who also founded the esteemed labels, Elektra and Nonesuch Records.

In 2008, look for Ryko to complement its signature green jewel case with innovative eco-friendly "green" packaging on selected releases. We begin the year with a stellar album from Joe Jackson, followed by new releases by such artists as Gary Louris, Supreme Beings of Leisure, Elf Power, Was (Not Was), and many more.
