CHAKA KHAN & CHRISETTE MICHELE TOPLINE JAZZ IN THE GARDENS

Jazz the Gardens music festival headliners, Chaka Khan and Chrisette Michele, were among the most talented artists recently nominated for their musical contributions at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. Chaka Khan received two nominations for Best R&B Album for her album, 'Funk This,' and Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for her single titled 'Disrespectful,' featuring Mary J. Blige. Chaka Khan walked away with both Grammy awards. Chrisette Michele was nominated for the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

These new Grammy affirmations make Chaka Khan a ten-time Grammy winner, from 1973 to 2008, in a musical career that spans three decades. She is an internationally loved diva of 'old school' soul music, praised for her energy, versatile soulful voice, dynamism, and passion. Having worked in practically every genre of music from pop, classical R&B to jazz, Chaka has brought her special brand of vocal magic to audiences the world over.

Newcomer Chrisette Michele earned her first Grammy nomination for her 'If I Have My Way,' her first single off her debut album, 'I Am.' This prestigious recognition from the Academy cements Michele's distinct talent and amazing vocals. Before recently signing to Def Jam records, the singer, songwriter and composer toured with more established artists like KEM and India Arie. She was a VH1 "You Oughta Know: Artist on the Rise" for January 2008 and is enjoying airplay on jazz and R&B stations worldwide.

Chaka Khan and Chrisette Michele are just two artists on the star-studded line-up for the City of Miami Gardens' 3rd annual Jazz in the Gardens music festival, being held on Saturday, March 15th and Sunday, March 16th at Dolphin Stadium.
