MESHELL NDEGEOCELLO – THE WORLD HAS MADE ME THE MAN OF MY DREAMS

"Like Miles Davis or Joni Mitchell, Ndegeocello challenges musical convention with an ample supply of curveballs." -- The Boston Herald

Bassist Meshell Ndegeocello has released her 7th album, The World Has Made Me The Man Of My Dreams . Guest musicians on this outing include Jazzmen Pat Metheny, Jason Lindner, and Robert Glasper add spice to the tracks. She has earned critical acclaim, the unfailing respect of fellow players, songwriters and composers, and the dedication of her diverse, unclassifiable fans. For the sake of setting the record straight, a few brass tacks remain: Meshell was born in Germany, raised in DC, signed at 23, and nominated for 9 Grammy awards. Meshell's found some tremendous new territory for herself -- and has reminded us that she's still got some much sharper edges than her contemporaries. A host of great guests really help Meshell find her groove here -- including Sy Smith on vocals, Oliver Lake on saxophone, James Newton on flute, Robert Glasper on piano, and Graham Haynes on cornet. Titles include "Haditha", "Evolution", "Virgo", "Lovely Lady", "The Sloganeer Paradise", "Elliptical", "Shirk", "Article 3", "Headline", "Michell Johnson", and "Solomon". (Limited edition version features the bonus track "Soul Spaceship".) You can catch Meshell supporting her new album this fall with a tour that kicks off at Hiro Ballroom, NYC Wednesday (9/26).
