PBS TO AIR EARLY JAZZ VIDEOS ‘SOUNDIES’ SPECIAL
PBS is presenting a new television special, Soundies: A Musical History Hosted by Michael Feinstein, is scheduled to air on PBS March 8th. The program will explore a nearly forgotten piece of American musical history, the soundie. Michael Feinstein ia a four-time Grammy nominee and one of the premiere interpreters of American song, the program also contains interviews with some of America's most famous musical and cultural icons - including Wynton Marsalis, Les Paul, George Duke, Hugh Hefner and film historian Leonard Maltin. Local airtimes and dates are as follows: March 3rd: Los Angeles, CA - 7PM on KCET; Atlanta, GA - On WPBA; Oklahoma (statewide) - 9PM on OETA; Indianapolis, IN - 9PM on WFYI; and Miami, FL - 9PM on WPBT. March 4th: Kentucky (statewide) - 1PM on KET; West Palm Beach, FL - 8PM on WXEL; Albuquerque, NM - 7PM on KNME; and Detroit, MI - 5PM on Detroit Public TV. Other: Rochester, NY- March 5th at 9PM on WXXI; Phoenix, AZ - March 6th at 8:30PM on KAET; Nashville, TN - March 7th on Nashville Public TV; New York, NY - March 8th at 8PM on WNET; and Georgia Statewide) - March 9 on Georgia PBS stations.
