CESARIO EVORA, SEU JORGE & MANY CHAO HEADLINE MONTREAL JAZZ FESTIVAL
The Montreal Jazz Festival has just announced guest performers for its 28th edition of the popular summer fest. Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Ghanaian drum master Yacub Addy, the Roy Haynes Quartet and world music stars Manu Chao, Cesaria Evora and Seu Jorge will headline the fest, which runs from June 28th to July 8th. Other artists to perform at the festival, which is North America's largest such event, are rock guitarist Derek Trucks, vocalist Mark Murphy, drummer Billy Cobham, French violinist Didier Lockwood, and the North American premiere of the Spaghetti Western Orchestra, with its tribute to the film scores of Italian composer Ennio Morricone. These are in addition to previously announced performers, including the Dave Holland Quintet, Holly Cole, the Wayne Shorter Quartet, Joshua Redman, Keith Jarrett and Branford Marsalis.
