PHILADELPHIA’S SMOOTH JAZZ RADIO WJJZ TO SWITCH FORMATS

Billboard is reporting that Clear Channel smooth jazz WJJZ/Philadelphia’s air staff was on Wednesday, August 8, and that a format flip is imminent. Most likely, the smooth jazz station will flip to another adult format like rhythmic AC. As for now, PD Michael Tozzi remains with the station, using voice tracking in the interim. Coinciding with the speculation about the future of WJJZ are rumors of an impending format flip at sister AC WSNI/Philadelphia. WJJZ adopted the smooth jazz format in March 1993 under now-WNWV/Cleveland PD Bernie Kimble, who left the station after two years and was succeeded by CBS oldies WOGL PD Anne Gress.
