Jazz Chill News Bits:……….John Mayer’s latest album, Continuum, is set for release on the Sony label on September 12. The new album features the hit single – Waiting On The World To Change……….Gil Parris has just been added to the CD101.9 Liberty Jazz Festival lineup. He joins Gato Barbieri, Norman Brown, Patti Austin, Alex Bugnon and Paul Taylor at the Sept. 9 concert at Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Wayman Tisdale, Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, Jeff Golub, Richard Elliot, Gerald Albright, Peter White, Stanley Jordan and Brian Simpson headline the Sept, 10 concert……….Smooth jazz CD101.9 in New York is also presenting a series of summer evening cruises along the Hudson River with such artists as Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons, Jeff Golub and the Warren Hill Band……….Brad Mehldau and Pat Metheny are collaborating on a new album, Metheny Mehldau, which is set for release on Sept. The 10 track album will feature each artist’s material, and will also Mehldau’s trio of bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jeff Ballard. Songs on the album include Mehldau’s Unrequited and Metheny’s Ring Of Life. The duo are in the planning stages for a March 2007 tour……….The River Raisin Jazz Festival in Ohio is scheduled for Aug. 11-12 in St. Mary’s Park on the banks of the River Raisin in downtown Monroe. Artists set to appear in concerts include Rick Braun, Jesse Palter, Randy Scott, Joe McBride, Jeff McDonald Band, Sheila Landis & Brazilian Love Affair, Nick Colionne, David Benoit, and Alexander Zonjic & Friends.
