JAZZ CHILL NEWS BITS…….…Thievery Corporation have made available their unreleased track, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, originally recorded back in January 2006. This AOL Music DJ Sessions exclusive release features the Govinda Remix version woven together with other gems from the ERSL music catalogue. The track is now available for download from iTunes and AOL MusicNow……….Upcoming March concerts: Harold Melvinss Blue Notes, Sharon Paige, Blue Magic, Frankie Morales and Timothy Wilson will appear at the New Jersey University, and Leon Ware will appear at the Temple Bar in Los Angeles……….Michel Camillo’s latest release, Rhapsody in Blue, features covers of George Gerswhin songs, along with backup by the 95-piece Barcelona Symphony Orchestra. The album is also available in a Hybrid SACD version on the Telarc label……….Jonathan Butler recently performed at the largest Black History Month event ever, the Pan African Film & Arts Festival. The festival, which kicked of on February 9th in Los Angeles, celebrated its 14th anniversary and featured more than 150 movies by filmmakers from around the world. Robinson will appear in the role of Billy Flynn and has contracted to stay with the show through June 2006……….Phillippe Saisse has signed with Rendezvous Entertainment and will be releasing an album, The Body And Soul Sessions on April 18. Saisse’s first single, Do It Again, hit the radio airwaves last week and was the most added song on the Smooth Jazz playlists. The single has also made its debut on the Radio and Records national airplay chart……….Brian Simpson will be doing a series of free performances at Borders and Books and Music stores this month: March 13 at the Washington, D.C. Borders (1801 K Street NW); March 14 at the Baltimore Borders Timonium (170 W. Ridgeley Rd.); March 16 at the Philadelphia Borders (1. S. Broad); and March 17 at the New York Borders in Columbus Circle. Kirk Whalum will join Simpson for the March 16 and 17 performances……….Dionne Warwick has signed on to appear at the upcoming 10th annual St. Kitts Music Festival this June……….Ultra cool public radio station KCRW and KCRW.com present a Tina Dico performance at Boca in San Francisco on March 22……….Atlanta-based quartet, Jiva release their debut CD, Sun & Moon, presenting a mix of styles from soul to Brazilian jazz to house grooves.
